QUIT-SMOKING
MEDIA CAMPAIGN
New media campaign urges people to quit smoking, especially after exposure to asbestos
To counter the trend of a rising smoking rate, and to encourage people to quit smoking (especially if they have been exposed to asbestos), the Health Department launched a new media campaign and teamed up with local organizations to raise awareness about the dangers of secondhand smoke.
The campaign is also offering additional services to help people quit, including nicotine patches at local clinics.
It is especially important for people who have been exposed to asbestos to learn about this campaign and quit smoking. That double exposure raises the risk of lung cancer dramatically.
