She had never worked in an environment containing asbestos, yet the 71-year-old spouse of a man who did, died from mesothelioma, reported the Western Telegraph on August 28, 2008.
The article said she likely breathed in asbestos dust and fibers while washing her plumber husband's overalls years before.
According to the Telegraph, her family was unaware that she had ever been exposed to asbestos.
The coroner said that in 99.9% of cases mesothelioma was caused by exposure to asbestos dust and plumbers worked with lagging and asbestos wool which may well have got onto her husband's clothes.
