NEWS UPDATE:
Former staff at New Plymouth's power station who believe they were exposed to toxic asbestos now have access to a test for asbestos.
Contact Energy, which closed the station last December following an asbestos discovery, has invited all former employees from the power station to write to them if they think they were exposed.
The offer of the asbestos test at New Plymouth includes employees who worked at the station before Contact inherited the plant from the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand in 1996. The invitation was published in all of New Zealand's major daily newspapers as well as the Sunday Star-Times.
