Two Worchester, MA firms Arraigned on Improper Asbestos Removal Charges
In February 2009, two companies in Worchester, MA were arraigned in connection with a 2007 demolition and renovation project. The companies were charged with violations of the Clear Air Act for the improper removal of asbestos.
The companies are charged with failing to file notices of asbestos removal with the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), failing to comply with procedures for asbestos emissions control and improperly disposing of asbestos waste.
In addition, the DEP reported the building was occupied during the demolition, exposing residential tenants to dangerous asbestos dusts and fibers.
