Asbestos discovery halts Corinth fire cleanup
Here is some information from the Post Star on the discovery of asbestos during the Corinth fire cleanup. The village’s Main Street still betrays little of the brutal February fire that gutted three cornerstone properties.
Mounds of rubble — scorched folding chairs, timber and rusted, twisted metal — dominate the landscape, separated from the sidewalk by little more than a meager wooden fence.
There’s a reason, though. Efforts to clean up after the fire have been complicated by the discovery of asbestos in the rubble, though that appears to be the only major hurdle in the first phase of the recovery process.
