A court has found Ford breached its duty of care to a former mechanic employee by failing to warn him about the dangers of asbestos, reported ABC News on Feb. 20, 2008.

victims are hoping the legal victory for brake mechanics and others who
have worked with asbestos will send a strong message to the car industry about
the known carcinogen.
The brake worker was an employee for Ford
dealerships for 17 years in the 1970s and 80s, according to ABC article, which
said he was diagnosed in 2001 with asbestosis and pleural disease due to
asbestos exposure. Ford Motor Company was ordered to pay him $840,000 in
damages.
