Navy Housing in Virginia Found to Contain the Carcinogen Asbestos

Debris from the new $14 million Navy housing construction site in Virginia, which a subcontractor dumped at a landfill claiming it was regular soil fill, contained the carcinogen asbestos, state officials confirmed, according to Newport News on June 3, 2008.

The company will have to pay the landfill the price difference between clean and asbestos-contaminated waste, which will add up to about $60,000, according to the owner of the landfill.
