Treatment of lung cancer
The effectiveness of a treatment program for lung cancer depends on three main factors. These are: the stage of the cancer, the type of cancer, the age and general health of the patient.
Treatment options are generally more successful in the early stages of lung cancer than in later stages. Non-small cell lung cancer is generally easier to treat than small cell lung cancer because the former grows and spreads more slowly. Patients who are able to perform everyday activities and have not lost substantial weight prior to their diagnosis tend to experience greater success with treatment options.
