Engineer never told about the dangers of asbestos exposure. Dies of mesothelioma after toiling unprotected.
An engineer was exposed to asbestos dust at work for more than two decades but was never given a mask or safety advice, according to the Cheshire newspaper in the United Kingdom on May 7, 2008.
Although he did not handle asbestos, he said other employees cut the material and prepared asbestos paste in the same work area. This, he said shortly before his death, created clouds of asbestos dust.
Despite the obvious exposure, and that asbestos is a known carcinogen, the man said he was never given any warnings about the dangers of asbestos dust.
He was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma, an asbestos-related cancer, in February 2006. He died in October 2007.
Sadly, this situation, where exposure to asbestos was easily preventable, is all too familiar to the mesothelioma attorneys in the Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit here in the United States.
We are a leading plaintiffs' law firm that has represented people affected by mesothelioma for over 20 years. Men and women diagnosed with mesothelioma or lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure may be entitled to compensation from the companies responsible for their disease.
