Donors contribute $70,000 to aid Assumption BVM School with asbestos removal
Assumption BVM School is continuing forward with an asbestos removal project this summer, in part thanks to more than $70,000 in donations from 3 organizations during the past school year.
Assumption BVM's school, built in 1959, is undergoing the 2nd phase of a 3-phase renovation project currently – asbestos is being removed from the ceilings and insulation of a hallway and 4 classrooms.
Asbestos is a type of mineral fiber previously commonly used for insulation and sealing in different types of buildings. Prolonged exposure can cause mesothelioma, a type of cancer, or asbestosis, many years later in life.
On behalf of those harmed by asbestos, lawyers of Weitz & Luxenberg have filed tens of thousands of cases to help provide financial security, access to medical care and dignity. Weitz & Luxenberg has recovered hundreds of millions more for its asbestos clients.
