Chief Building Official Ray Walker failed to check for asbestos before remodeling

Calaveras County's chief building inspector, Ray Walker, failed to follow a law requiring a check for asbestos.

He cost the county hundreds of thousands of dollars in lawsuit settlements and construction overruns as well as allowed shoddy or inappropriate building practices.
