Man receives award for raising awareness about asbestos in some art clay
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has honored a Connecticut man for his work in protecting kids from asbestos in art clay, said the Connecticut Business News Journal in May 2008.
The man, a supervisor of the state Department of Public Health's Asbestos
Program, helped get suppliers to stop selling toy art clay in Connecticut that
contains asbestos-containing
talc.
He also got the Art & Creative Materials Institute to require
member manufacturers to reformulate their products to remove asbestos, which has
been linked to diseases like asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma.
