City government has awarded a contract for asbestos removal from a building that it bought
The city bought a building and then awarded a contract to remove asbestos from the building.
In answer to questions from former mayoral candidate Jerry Moore about the wisdom of buying the building in the first place, Patty Heagel, community development director, said, "This was an opportunity acquisition. This property has been a problem for this neighborhood for a very long time," citing police and inspection records. "It had a checkered past."
