Floor Removal and Disposal

The techniques used in removing flooring depend upon its ultimate fate. Where it is in poor condition and incapable of being reused or recycled, the flooring is typically ripped out using pry bars and sledge hammers and sent offsite for disposal.

Sometimes wood flooring and other debris is burned to reduce the volume of waste. In this case, the asbestos must be removed prior to burning the wood debris.

Since demolition debris disposal costs are so high ($100 - $500 per 60-100 cubic yard load), as much salvage/recycling of materials is done as possible.
