Housing Project Work Uncovers Hidden Asbestos
July, 2008 - Asbestos was recently found during the development of a new housing project. Asbestos is known to cause a rare, lethal form of cancer called mesothelioma. The area of the site was located in Denver, Colorado, and was expected to house 136 units for low-income families.
When the contractor began work, the company discovered that previous work done to clear the site had erroneously caused an asbestos leak. The leak was coming from an undocumented broken asbestos-containing pipe. The workers responsible for the problem simply covered up the leak with mounds of dirt without following the steps of proper notification.
On behalf of those harmed by asbestos, lawyers of Weitz & Luxenberg have filed tens of thousands of cases to help provide financial security, access to medical care and dignity. Weitz & Luxenberg has recovered hundreds of millions more for its asbestos clients.
