Man With Mesothelioma Files Asbestos Lawsuit in Madison County, Illinois
A Michigan man with mesothelioma, an asbestos-related disease, has filed a
case against 51 defendants in Madison County, Illinois.
In the lawsuit,
filed in Madison County Circuit Court on October 2, 2007, Walter Nalezyty claims
that he was exposed the carcinogen from his father's clothing, which was dusted
with airborne asbestos fibers.
Nalezyty says his father was a metal
finisher and bump out installer with Chrysler, reports The Madison St. Clair
Record.
According to the Record, Nalezyty was diagnosed with
mesothelioma on August 7, 2007.
Many people are unaware that they are at
risk for contracting asbestos-related illnesses such as mesothelioma, asbestosis
and lung cancer simply by coming in contact with the clothes of someone who has
worked with it. Very often, the fibers affix themselves to the worker's
clothing, and those work clothes are unknowingly brought home, thus endangering
family members and friends.
Weitz & Luxenberg has handled many such
so-called "second-hand exposure" cases.
