A 59-year-old nurse who was diagnosed with mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos at various hospitals in England, will likely receive compensation for her illness, after the health authority there accepted liability for having caused her disease due to negligence, reported the Norwich Evening News on February 14, 2008.
Reportedly, the nurse was forced to appeal to the newschannel for help in getting money for her health. Several people came forward publically to say they recall the dangerous conditions at several hospitals where she had worked, said the newschannel.
The British health worker told a reporter last year that asbestos lagging was on the pipes at all the hospitals where she worked, and she would have breathed in asbestos dust while cleaning, according to the news report.
Sadly, this situation, where exposure to asbestos was easily preventable, is all too familiar to the attorneys in the Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit here in the United States.
