A doctor to the Queen of England has quit because he has mesothelioma lung cancer, which he claims was caused by exposure to asbestos at a pharmaceutical company more than 40 years ago, according to the Jan. 28, 2008 Evening Standard newspaper in the United Kingdom.
According to the article, the doctor is suing the company because he claims
his illness is the result of being exposed to asbestos while
employed there.
In court documents, he alleges that during his teens and
early 20s at a plant in Ware, Hertfordshire - where his father was managing
director - he repeatedly polished, screwed, shaped and drilled Ferobestos, a
plastic which contained asbestos fibers.
According to the report, he
claims the company failed to provide workers with suitable
protection.
Sadly, this situation is all too familiar to the attorneys in the Weitz &
Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit here in the United States.
