Are workers trained in asbestos removal?
Worker training. Your facility must provide, at no cost, a training program for employees likely to be exposed to asbestos removal work during ship scrapping. Training must be provided prior to or at the time of beginning work and at least once a year afterwards, and it must be conducted in a manner which the worker is able to understand.
For asbestos removal operations that require the use of critical barriers and/or negative pressure enclosures, the facility must provide training to workers that is equivalent in curriculum, training method, and length to the EPA Model Accreditation Plan.
An inspector may check to see that workers at your facility received training in a language that they understand.
