A former merchant seaman suffering from mesothelioma says he was exposed to the deadly carcinogen asbestos that caused his illness while working onboard a number of ships, according to the Jan. 28, 2008 Wirral Globe newspaper in the United Kingdom.
The article says he is appealing for ex-colleagues to come forward and help
in his legal battle for compensation.
The British sailor, who is 77,
sailed on board merchant navy ships, working as a purser.
According to
the newspaper report, he said there was asbestos lagging all over the steam
ships as all the steam pipes were
insulated with asbestos.
Sadly, this situation is all too familiar to the
attorneys in the Weitz &
Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit here in the United States.
