Safety of students from asbestos necessitates school closing

''The first issue is safety of the students [from asbestos], the second is education and the third is cost,'' Director Nancy Tirjan said.

At some point after the board first discussed closing the school for renovations, a story circulated in the community that it was a move by the district to permanently close the school.
