Women factory workers at risk: Seamstress dies of mesothelioma after inhaling asbestos fibers
Asbestos is still killing 30 men and women in Norwich, England each year but the figure is set to rise by 2012, experts warn, according to the Norwich Evening News on May 7, 2008.
People still die of asbestos related diseases such as mesothelioma - a cancer of the lining of the
lung caused by exposure to asbestos, the report said.
Ex-asbestos
sprayers, boiler laggers, carpenters
and central heating engineers are
all prime candidates for being affected by asbestos illnesses.
Women,
too, are at risk for asbestos
disease.
The News confirmed that a local area woman recently
lost her 56-year-old daughter to mesothelioma. The 83-year-old's only child died
after inhaling asbestos dust when
working as a seamstress for a clothing factory.
There, she worked on
firemen's jackets, which were lined with asbestos.
Sadly, this situation,
where exposure to asbestos was easily preventable, is all too familiar to the mesothelioma attorneys in the Weitz
& Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos
Litigation unit here in the United States.
