Film star succumbs to mesothelioma after working with asbestos 40 years earlier in a factory.
A screen star born in the United Kingdom who acted in blockbuster films including Gladiator and Gangs of New York has died of mesothelioma from being exposed to asbestos as a teenager, reported Armley Today on July 9, 2008.
David Nicholls, who was 58, when he died of the mesothelioma cancer, worked
in a factory as a teenager. It was there that he had contact with asbestos
lagging used to insulate pipes, the article said.
More than 40 years
later, he was diagnosed with mesothelioma, caused by the deadly asbestos
mineral.
He was diagnosed in May last year and died on June 23, the
newspaper reported.
Sadly, as the lawyers in the Weitz & Luxenberg Asbestos Litigation unit have seen through their
work, this is a common example of people who were exposed to carcinogens simply
because the powers that be failed to have in place routine safety
measures.
Weitz & Luxenberg is a leading plaintiffs' law firm that
has represented people affected by mesothelioma for over 20 years. Men and women
