Report: Avandia Prescriptions Decline after Journal of Medicine Study
Following a study printed in the New England Journal of Medicine that
suggests the diabetes drug Avandia increases heart attack risk, prescriptions
for the medicine have begun to fall, says an article in USA Today, dated
June 22, 2007.
According to the report, prescriptions for Avandia have
dropped about 10 percent since the NEJM study was posted online.
New
prescriptions have dropped about 40 percent, said the USA Today story,
citing spokespeople for GlaxoSmithKline, maker of the popular
medication.
