Arkansas Lawsuit: Avandia (Rosiglitazone) Caused My Heart Problems
Avandia (known generically as rosiglitazone) caused the heart problems of an
Arkansas resident, according to a lawsuit filed in the Western District of that
state.
The Texarkana Gazette reports that the suit, filed by Jimmy
Mason, alleges that the Type 2 diabetes medication caused cardiac difficulties.
He is asking for compensatory and punitive damages, as well as legal fees and
court-related costs.
Like other lawsuits cropping up around the country,
Mason's suit alleges that drug giant GlaxoSmithKline did not sufficiently warn
consumers about the dangers associated with Avandia.
Researchers have
found that Avandia significantly increases the potential for heart attacks in
patients, as compared with other diabetes medications or a placebo.
The Food and
Drug Administration has issued a warning to users of the pill, recommending
they discuss with their doctors the health concerns that come with taking
Avandia.
If you or a loved one has suffered cardiac complications after
ingesting Avandia, you deserve the guidance of a knowledgeable drug attorney.
