Vital News About Diabetes Drug Avandia - Possible Heart Attack Risk

Harmed by Avandia? You can get a free case review and learn more about the health risks associated with this Type 2 diabetes medication here.

November 14, 2007--Second Black Box Warning
Due to the risk of heart attack, the Food and Drug Administration has issued its strictest warning on Avandia.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the manufacturer of Avandia (rosiglitazone), GlaxoSmithKline, has agreed to add information to the existing boxed warning on the drug's label about possible increased heart attack risk. The drug is also marketed as Avandamet and Avandaryl.

In May 2007, an analysis of over 40 clinical studies raised concerns about the potential cardiovascular complications associated with taking Avandia.

Researchers found that Avandia significantly increases the potential for heart attacks in patients as compared with other diabetes medications or a placebo.

The Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning to users of the medicine, recommending they discuss with their doctors the health concerns that come with taking Avandia.

If you or a loved one has suffered cardiac complications after ingesting Avandia, you deserve the guidance of a knowledgeable drug attorney. Get a free case review by filling out the form below.
