Did demolition work cause lung cancer or mesothelioma? Our attorneys can help you file a claim for monetary compensation.
In recent news, the family of a demolition worker who died of cancer found that exposure to asbestos during his work had contributed to his disease.
The demolition worker, 83, died as a result of a form of lung cancer caused by the combination of smoking and exposure to asbestos.
He had been exposed to significant amounts of the asbestos fibers working in construction, renovation and demolition.
An oncologist said he was able to see evidence of the asbestos exposure with the naked eye.
He added that asbestos definitely contributed to the demolition worker's death.
His wife reportedly said her husband had been a heavy smoker since his teenage years but had cut down over the years prior to his death and stopped completely last year.
She remembered that her husband had never been provided with masks or protective clothing and that he had not realized the dangers of working with asbestos on an almost daily basis.
She recalled, "I would wash his clothes and overalls and they would be covered in dust. We didn't know at the time the dangers. Everywhere he worked he was exposed to asbestos nearly everyday, he used to cut sheets of it and demolish buildings with lots of it in."
