Carpenters with cancer: We can help you file an asbestos claim to obtain money for your health concerns
A former carpenter diagnosed with cancer after working with the insulating material would like to warn others carpenters about the dangers of asbestos exposure.
The retired carpenter, who developed the asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma four years ago, worked with several kinds of asbestos-containing materials on his jobs in the 1960s.
The carpenter is now urging his fellow tradesmen to learn the dangers of working with asbestos and protect themselves against it properly.
He said: "Asbestos is something you don't see and it took me years before I displayed symptoms and discovered I had mesothelioma cancer."
"Don't be fooled by asbestos, don't be macho," he added. "Be careful, use the correct equipment and remember the dangers."
Workers most at risk of contracting an asbestos-related cancer are plumbers, carpenters and electricians.
Contrary to what many people believe, the risks of contracting mesothelioma, lung cancer, or asbestosis are not a thing of the past.
"The most simple, but important, advice is if you are not 100 percent certain that there is no asbestos where you are working, then don't start work. It is not worth the risk," said one government health official recently.
