Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral Palsy maybe caused by negligence. Fill out this simple form so we may determine if you have a cerebral palsy case resulting from medical negligence. If you do, you may be entitled to substantial compensation.

Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders related to developmental brain injuries that take place during fetal development, birth, or soon after birth. It is involves a disruption of motor skills and symptoms such as spasticity, paralysis, or seizures. Cerebral palsy is a type of static encephalopathy and a form of it, called spastic diplegia, is sometimes referred to as Little's disease. It is a chronic nonprogressive neurological disorder. The incidence is approxiomtely 1.5 to 4 per 1000 live births. There is no treatment for cerebral palsy, but therapy has been demonstrated to be effective in maintaining motor skills. Cerebral palsy has one of the highest lifetime costs of any congenital disability.

Cerebral palsy has many important symptoms. People with cerebral palsy developed it while their brains were developing. This limits the age at which the disorder can develop to at most 5 years of age. However, 80% of all cases occur before the baby reaches 1 month old.

Cerebral palsy has a few important causes but research in this area is still ongoing. Premature babies are at higher risk for cerebral palsy because their organs are not yet fully developed. This raises the risk of asphyxia and other injuries to the brain, which in turn raises the incidence of cerebral palsy.

There are different varieties of Cerebral palsy. Some are based on the group of muscles involved and others are based on 'quality' of movement.
