The St. Clair Record reported on January 23, 2008 that a Minnesota man
filed an asbestos suit against 10 defendant corporations in Madison County
Circuit Court Jan. 16, alleging his father died from
mesothelioma.
According to the report, his father was diagnosed with
mesothelioma on Jan. 1, 2004, and died on Dec. 2, 2004.
The plaintiff
claims that his father was exposed to the asbestos that caused his mesothelioma
at work, where he did automotive repairs. In doing so, he claims his father
inhaled and ingested or absorbed asbestos fibers.
The plaintiff also
claims the defendants knew or should have known that the asbestos fibers
contained in their products had a toxic, poisonous and highly deleterious effect
upon the health of people.
He also alleges that the defendants included
asbestos in their products even when adequate substitutes were available and
failed to provide any or adequate instructions concerning the safe methods of
working with and around asbestos.
Sadly, such cases of entirely avoidable
exposure to asbestos are quite common. Since 1986, our lawyers have dedicated
themselves to helping those with mesothelioma and their families seek
compensation for their illness.
