Chromium in Raymond, NH - Old Tannery is New Cleanup Site

An old tannery in Raymond, NH has caused environmental problems. Chromium, a type of metal that was used in leather processing, was discovered nearby and has prompted a major cleanup in the area, since the town would like to place a wastewater treatment plant there.
Although the contamination isn't as dangerous as intially believed, the area will nevertheless have 7,000 tons of material excavated and buried on-site.
