Los Alamos National Laboratory suspected of contaminating the regional aquifer with chromium

May 7, 2007, Los Alamos, NM

Los Alamos - According to the Los Alamos Monitor, in late 2005, hexavalent chromium contamination in the regional aquifer was caused by the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Under a work plan for the chromium project, the laboratory expects to start drilling two new wells: R-35A and R-35B, to characterize the chromium plume and guard the county's drinking water well.
