Home Client Testimonial C. J.’s Story

C.J., New York

For the longest time I’ve wanted a nice home of my own for me and my three children to live in. Weitz & Luxenberg made my dream come true by getting me enough money that I can finally have such a place.

I haven’t bought my dream house yet. But when I do, it’ll be someplace where the winters are not cold.

I came to Weitz & Luxenberg because I needed to sue some hospitals. This was the first time I ever had to sue somebody, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But Weitz & Luxenberg helped me to understand everything.

After I talked to Weitz & Luxenberg, I didn’t feel like it was necessary to talk to other attorneys. Everybody who I mentioned it to, that I had talked with Weitz & Luxenberg, said they were one of the best. So I felt confident that Weitz & Luxenberg would be the right lawyers to use.

After Weitz & Luxenberg took my case, I received regular updates about my lawsuit. I was never left guessing about where things stood or what was going to happen next. They also helped me stay confident so that I didn’t feel like giving up.

I decided to sue because I was misdiagnosed and then later operated on in a way that wasn’t right. My problems began when I went to the hospital because I had become ill with something.

I didn’t know what I was ill from. The hospital didn’t know what I was ill from either because they gave me a diagnosis that was not correct. They sent me home with medicine to treat that diagnosis. But because the diagnosis was not correct, the medicine didn’t help.

For two weeks I was on that medicine before I realized something was wrong. I didn’t trust the hospital after that, so I went to a different hospital.

This second hospital said the reason I was ill was because there was a mass in my stomach. They said I needed surgery. But the surgery did not go well. They removed the mass and, for some reason, they also removed my urethra. After that I became very sick.

My aunt is a nurse. When she came to the hospital to see me the day after the procedure she said they had made some kind of very big error with the surgery. She said they should not have taken out my urethra.

The hospital then told me that I should have the removed urethra reconstructed using some of my intestine. But this hospital did not have the ability to perform the reconstruction.

I ended up at another hospital for that procedure. At the third hospital, I passed out and was taken to the ICU. They found blood clots in my lungs.

I was very close to dying. I was very scared.

Because of all this, I was in the third hospital for months and had to go around with a tube in my kidney for one year. In all that time I couldn’t go to work.

I did have the reconstructive surgery on my urethra. That’s what I’m living with now. I still have a long way to go to before I’m well again.

The night when my aunt came to see me in the hospital and realized the hospital had made a mistake, she also told me I should talk to a lawyer. She put me in touch with a lawyer friend of hers who recommended I use Weitz & Luxenberg.

I called them about a week later. I didn’t have to go to them because they came to me, right in the hospital.

My lawsuit against the hospitals got going and, as of now, the one that gave me the wrong diagnosis has settled out of court.

The other one that removed my urethra is still trying to say they did nothing wrong.

Weitz & Luxenberg has done good work for me. They’re still doing good work for me. I think anyone who needs legal help should definitely talk to Weitz & Luxenberg.
