On August, 23, 2006, a US research report revealed that one-third of patients with a serious eye infection associated with the ReNu with MoistureLoc product had such severe infections that they had or will need a corneal transplant.

The study, “Multistate Outbreak of Fusarium Keratitis Associated with use of Contact Lens Solution,” found that ReNu with MoistureLoc was responsible for the outbreak of potentially blinding fungal eye infections in the last year. Bausch & Lomb finally issued a recall in May 2006.

FDA Press Release: ReNu with MoistureLoc was permanently pulled from shelves worldwide on May 15 after Bausch & Lomb admitted an issue with their formulation and relation to fusarium. You can read more about this and more in our ReNu News & Warnings section.

Bausch & Lomb is advising anyone who uses its Renu MoistureLoc Contact Solution to stop using it immediately.
