FDA Alert: Counterfeit One Touch Blood Glucose Test Strips
[Issued October 13, 2006] The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an alert to inform the public of counterfeit blood glucose test strips that are being sold nationally.
The strips, made by Johnson & Johnson, are for various models of LifeScan, Inc., One Touch Brand Blood Glucose Monitors used by people with diabetes to measure their blood glucose.
The FDA is concerned that the counterfeit blood test strips may give faulty blood glucose values, which might result in injuries to patients.
The fake strips have been distributed by stores and pharmacies nationally, however, most were found in Ohio, New York, Florida, Maryland and Missouri.
