Learn More About Crestor-
information provided by Crestor Lawyers

Approved by the FDA, Crestor, a drug classified as a statin, was designed by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals to lower cholesterol. Crestor, generically known as rosuvastatin, is used to reduce the amounts of LDL (bad) cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides (another type of fat), and apolipoprotein B (a protein needed to make cholesterol) in the blood. Crestor also increases the level of HDL (good) cholesterol in the blood. Crestor was approved for use in the United States in August of 2003.

While Crestor has health benefits in terms of lowering cholesterol levels, it has been discovered that Crestor can also cause serious health problems. In clinical trials, Crestor was linked to seven fatalities. Crestor has also been associated with several adverse side effects, including rhabdomyolysis, myopathy, kidney failure, elevated CPK levels, elevated liver enzymes, and debilitating muscle pain and weakness.

People who have suffered serious injuries after taking Crestor have filed suit on the grounds that Astra-Zeneca failed to fully reveal the dangerous side effects of the drug. Individuals who have been injured as a result of taking Crestor, and families who have suffered a loss after a loved one has taken the drug may be eligible to file a claim against Astra-Zeneca.

Weitz & Luxenberg is no longer accepting new Crestor cases.
