News alert: EPA finds suspect materials in Chinese drywall. Homeowners mull lawsuit options.
Thousands of homes in America could be contaminated from toxic Chinese drywall. Many lawsuits have already been filed alleging property damage and health problems.
Many of the affected houses have a rotten-egg-like odor, metal is turning black, and appliances are failing. If your home has been affected, a Chinese drywall lawsuit may prove a good course of action.
Health risks from those living in home with the toxic Chinese drywall include respiratory system irritation, dizziness, headaches, fatigue, irritated eyes, coronary heart disease, coma, convulsions, and liver damage.
The tainted drywall was first discovered by the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) in December 2008.
A domestic shortage of drywall following hurricanes Katrina and Wilma and nationwide building booms meant companies imported more from China.
The EPA found questionable materials in a small sampling of Chinese-made drywall, adding to the fears that the house-building staple could be causing corrosion in homes and possibly sickening people in several states. A lawsuit could be looming.
As the number of people becoming increasingly sick from the Chinese drywall, a lawsuit will become increasingly likely. Have you become ill or has someone you know become sick because of drywall?
