Evaluation of fatigue through tests such as blood pressure test
Your health care team will want to evaluate your fatigue — perhaps each time
you are seen — because finding the causes of your fatigue is the best approach
to designing the right treatment. Evaluation may include:
A physical
exam
Assessment of other side effects and your current treatments involved
for each of these
Use of a "fatigue scale" to assess your level of fatigue in
a more precise way than simple conversation. You can help by being ready to talk
about your fatigue in terms of how it impacts your day, how severely it affects
your activities, concentration, work, etc; and its emotional impact on
you.
Blood tests such as a blood pressure test
Metabolic checks, such as
measuring your thyroid function.
Once the evaluation is completed, your
healthcare professional may prescribe medications, recommend nutritional
supplements, recommend a blood transfusion and encourage exercise.
