Erin Brockovich and W&L Welcome Criminal Charges Against SoCalGasFeb. 3, 2016
Consumer Advocate Erin Brockovich and Weitz & Luxenberg lawyer Robin Greenwald voiced support today for the criminal charges filed against Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) over a massive gas leak in Aliso Canyon.
Erin Brockovich, who has been working with the law firm Weitz & Luxenberg to seek compensation for affected residents, said, ”I’m pleased to see the people of this community have finally been heard by the City. This crisis has been going on for months and it is high time SoCalGas is held responsible for its actions.”
Robin Greenwald, who heads Weitz & Luxenberg’s Environmental, Toxic Tort and Consumer Protection Litigation unit, added, ”This is a major step forward for the residents who have suffered at the hands of SoCalGas. When companies fail to inform the public in a timely manner that they are in the midst of an environmental and health crisis, they should be responsible both civilly and criminally for such violations of public trust.”
