Florida oil spill impact: information from environmental lawyers

In recent Florida news about the oil spill, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson has grown deeply concerned about the Gulf beaches, with around 210,000 gallons of oil discharging daily from the Deepwater Horizon rig off Louisiana reach shore.

Nelson reportedly told Florida community leaders about the oil spill, “We are facing a very serious situation. The winds over the next three days are moving the oil slick to the east and it is estimated it could be close to Florida by Monday.”

The Democrat senator said, “The sad part about that is it takes a long time. Estimates are two to three months. If that were to occur, needless to say this would be a major environmental and economic disaster.”

Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Mike Sole, who appeared with Nelson, said his major concern is the potential longevity of this spill, according to the Pensacola News Journal.

Our attorneys have already filed BP lawsuits against the companies involved in the BP Gulf oil spill disaster.

Many of our Florida clients impacted by the oil spill are residents of Pensacola and Gulf Breeze.

Our firm is seeking compensation for people who are unable to earn a livelihood in Florida, Mississippi and Alabama due to the creeping oil slick.

Our oil spill lawsuits, filed by a consortium of lawyers against BP, Halliburton, Cameron and other parties, seek to recover damages suffered by our clients in Florida and other areas as a result of the oil spill. These lawsuits allege, in part, that Defendants knew of the dangers associated with deep-water drilling and failed to take appropriate measures to prevent damages to our clients and the environment in which they live and work.
