Post-Menopausal Women Prescribed Fosamax Treat Osteoporosis Face Serious Side Effects, Including Spontaneous Femur Fractures

The lawyers in Weitz & Luxenberg’s drug and medical device unit are investigating cases of women and men who suffered femur fractures or other serious side effects after taking the osteoporosis drug Fosamax.

If you or a family member has been treated for a thigh bone fracture after taking Fosamax, we want to hear your story. Please complete the form on this page to obtain a free review of your potential case.

Since Fosamax was first approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the bisphosphonate drug has been prescribed to countless post-menopausal women to treat symptoms of osteoporosis. The drug, which is marketed with the Fosamax brand name, is known scientifically as alendronate sodium.

Side Effects Associated with the Use of Fosamax
A number of side effects have been associated with the use of Fosamax, including nausea, tiredness, fever, chills and muscle and joint pain, dizziness and headaches.

In more serious cases, patients have experienced allergic reactions to the drug, including the development of rashes, severe dizziness, swelling at the injection site or other parts of the body and breathing problems.

Other serious side effects are currently being investigated by the FDA: that patients who are treated with bisphosphonate drugs—including Fosamax—could face an increased risk for bone fractures, and in particular, fractures to the femur (the thigh bone). The femur fractures had been reported in female patients, a number of whom did not experience any traumatic injury such as a fall or associated injury.

Our Lawyers Can Help Those Affected by Bisphosphonate Drugs
If you or a loved one has suffered a femur fracture that has been linked to the use of bisphosphonate drugs, our lawyers may be able to help you to seek compensation for your injury, pain and suffering, and other financial compensation to help with other expenses.

Please complete the form on this page for a confidential review of your potential Fosamax femur fracture lawsuit. A Weitz & Luxenberg representative will contact you as soon as possible.
