Bisphosphonate Therapy - Common for cancer patients, but is Fosamax worth the risks?

Bisphosphonate therapy is a simple concept - it is the use of bisphosphonate drugs such as Fosamax.

Why should you be concerned?

These types of drugs are prescribed in order to prevent skeletal complications in cancer treatments and to prevent or treat osteoporosis (mainly in pre-menopausal women).

The reason to be concerned is this: Drugs such as Fosamax have recently been determined to cause bone loss, particularly to the jaw bone, along with gastrointestinal issues as well.

Symtoms include pain, swelling, and numbness in the jaw area.

Have you developed Osteonecrosis by taking Fosamax?
