Defibrillators such as the PRIZM 2 DR Model 1861 could be dangerous. The FDA recalled this and several other models of Guidant implants in response to news that several of these devices are defective.
The Guidant PRIZM 2 DR, Model 1861 is a medical device that is supposed to save lives. Men at women who are in danger of ventricular fibrillation need these to keep them alive. If their heart rate speeds up this device is supposed to slow it down. When these devices malfunction, people die.
Thousands of men and women trusted these devices to keep them alive. Guidant knew that some of them could potentially break down, and they didn't release this information until it was too late.
