Recent news reports indicate that over 400 people across the country have fallen ill with serious complications after receiving the blood-thinner Heparin. Lawyers in the Drugs and Medical Devices Litigation unit at Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. are currently speaking with those who claim they were injured from tainted Heparin.
The Food and Drug Administration is now attempting to isolate whether a
component of the drug--made from pig intestines--was tainted in factories in
China.
A pig disease has swept several Chinese provinces, resulting in
the purchase of pigs that may have been sick, according to an article in the
New York Times on Feb. 28, 2008.
The report says traders and
industry experts have noted that even big companies have been turning to small
village workshops, which are unregulated and often unsanitary.
Those
experts contend that the small, unregulated factories may pose dangers because
they aren't regulated as well as large slaughterhouses.
Baxter
International Inc., the drug company, has halted production of multi-dose vials
of heparin and health officials are attempting to uncover the cause of four
deaths and hundreds of health problems reported in patients.
If you were
harmed after being administered heparin, please complete the form below and a
