Wife Dies After Receiving Heparin and Husband Files Lawsuit in Ohio
A man in Toledo, Ohio filed a lawsuit against drug giant Baxter Healthcare Corp., after his wife died from an administration of Heparin, according to the Toledo Blade newspaper on February 15, 2008.
Reportedly, the man has charged that Baxter failed to issue a warning of adverse reactions to its product.
The Blade article said that the man's wife had been receiving hemodialysis, and during that time received Heparin, which is used as a blood thinner.
The woman died on December 19, while Baxter did recall the drug, which had been contaminated in manufacturing, until January 17.
