Medtronic Inc. takes action to protect patients from some bypass devices coated with Heparin

Medtronic Inc. will pull some devices used in heart bypass surgery because their coating includes tainted heparin, a blood thinner that in larger doses has been linked to 81 deaths, reported the Associated Press on May 7, 2008.

Heparin is used in small amounts to coat devices such as stents or catheters, the article said.

Medtronic will recall products such as blood oxygenators and tubing packs that were found with contaminated heparin.

If you were harmed after being administered heparin, please complete the form below and a representative of our firm will contact you as soon as possible.
