What is an Independent Medical Examination?
An "independent medical examination" (IME) is a physical examination that is a very common part of the legal discovery process.
If you are scheduled for an IME, an independent physician will review your medical history and prior test and X-ray results, and then perform a comprehensive physical examination.
In many cases, an independent medical examination is performed at the request of both the plainiff and the defendant.
