Lung cancer rates higher in areas with higher levels of air pollution

Studies show that lung cancer rates are higher in cities with higher levels of air pollution. Air pollution – mainly from vehicles, industry, and power plants – raises the chances of lung cancer in people exposed to it long term. In fact, breathing very polluted air long-term can raise the risk of lung cancer as much as breathing second-hand smoke.
