The types of lung cancer
Initially, it must be noted that there are two broad categories of lung cancer. These are primary lung cancer and secondary lung cancer. In turn, primary lung cancer is further subdivided into two types categorized by the size and appearance of the malignant cells: small-cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. This classification has very important implications for clinical management and prognosis of the disease.
