Oregon doctor on trial for medical malpractice
August 7, 2008 – The estate of a 47-year-old Oregon man who died hours after elective ankle surgery has sued his doctor in a medical malpractice trial that just started, claiming improper administration of pain medication caused his death.
The estate, which has already settled with the hospital, is suing the doctor for almost $10 million.
The malpractice lawsuit claims negligence on the part of an orthopedic surgeon at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon, who estate representatives say contributed to the man’s death in 2006.
